The John Deere 6466AF-00 features a Lugger Marine conversion. This configuration includes a dry stack exhaust and keel cooling system. The John Deere 6466AF engine, found in the 6466AF tractor, typically has a horsepower rating around 165-185 HP and is a 466 cubic inch (7.6 L) inline six cylinder block. The engine is installed in a watertight midship engine room with the generator and other mechanical systems. Heavy lugged doors seal this compartment from both sides. The engine and generator hours are unknown as the hour meters have been replaced.
Marine transmission: Twin Disc MG-509.

For ease of maneuvering a Side Power SE150/215T Bow Thruster (24 volt) is installed with a separate battery bank and dedicated charger.

The vessel is set up with a commercial grade tripod aluminum mast structure that supports a large cargo boom winch assembly. The boom has two electric winches for controlling port-starboard and up-down movement separately. This boom would easily launch the RIB shore boat and load or offload cargo and supplies. The structure houses the radome and other navigational components. No wire rigging is involved as this is connected to the deck structure and no sails are available or intended for use.

Electrical Systems

12 volt battery, 110 volt generator, 220 shore power voltage, 12 batteries charged by: engine, shore power, generator

The holding tank are made of fiberglass, equipped with macerator pump and Y-valve.
Length over all - stem to stern - is 52 feet.

This is a heavily built commercial fishing vessel originally designed for offshore tuna fishing that has been exceptionally well refit in design and construction as a long range private expedition yacht. The hull construction is robust and intended for offshore use. With the available fuel tankage of 3,600 gallons the vessel has a range of over 3,100 nautical miles at 8 knots speed with a ten percent fuel reserve. When operating at 6 to 7 knots cruise speed the fuel economy would improve further and the cruising range would increase dramatically making this a true transoceanic vessel.

The conversion to an expedition-capable yacht matches the commercial capability with well thought out systems and features fine quality finishes and domestic components.

The thorough nature of the engineering refit is evident in elements of construction such as:
- electrical wiring in conduit for safety and ease of replacement/modification;
- deck ladders and companionways designed for safe use and emergency egress from the command bridge and other areas;
- a Viking 24 inch commercial range with matching exhaust hood in a galley that includes a large separate pantry and professional kitchen prep area and commercial grade refrigeration and freezer components
- redundancy in systems including a three-way heating system for the vessel.

Waterline Boats / Boatshed does not independently verify capacities and measures, which are reported from seller-provided information and/or literature.

Broker's Comments

This capable yacht was originally built as a commercial offshore vessel for tuna fishing. The heavily built hull and deck structure required for this work served well in the conversion of this boat into a long range expedition-capable voyaging yacht. The commercial-appearing exterior belies the interior, which is very tastefully finished with varnished trim, quality paint, floor coverings, tile, cabinetry, sinks, appliances and domestic fixtures.

The owner, as a professional engineer, put a great deal of thought and know-how into the design and construction of the refit. A reliable Lugger Marine / John Deere main engine is secured in a stand up engine room behind watertight doors. The engine is keel cooled with a dry stack exhaust. A Side-Power 24 volt bow thruster supplements the main engine for docking and maneuvering. Robust electrical systems include a Onan 7.5 KW generator, a massive 12 volt house battery bank (with large 2 volt Trojan cells), with an Outback Inverter/Charger. The heating system is three-way and three-zone based on a Hurricane diesel hydronic boiler, an electric boiler, and engine heat exchanger heating.

Accommodations on the lower deck include a full-beam master stateroom with ensuite marine head compartment. This space is nicely finished and features a tub and shower in a tiled enclosure and nicely built sink and vanity cabinet. A forward guest cabin with an adjacent office suite and marine head compartment with shower is located forward of the engine room.

The main deck is open and bright with nice touches for living aboard like a commercial Viking range with matching hood, Isotherm refrigeration with a separate deep freezer, a large galley prep area with sink and pantry, and a stacking washer and dryer. The aft salon is set on raised cork flooring to isolate noise above the lower master suite - another thoughtful engineering element.

This would be an excellent liveaboard boat - but why stop there? It's been designed and built for cruising long distances in comfort and safety.

You'll set the hook on 1,200 feet of heavy cable and chain for safety. The commercial grade crane structure can easily manage the shore boat and other heavy loads (like pallets of food and provisions easily brought from dock to deck). As a US-built hull this vessel is also exempt from Jones Act limitations to permit use in commercial charter operations.

It would be impossible to refit a similar vessel with all of these features for the asking price of this yacht today and finding one as capable would be a challenge. This one is turn-key and ready for voyaging. Contact me today to schedule your personal viewing of this outstanding vessel.
