Boatshed BVI has an away day on an IC 24
Boatshed BVI Boatshed BVI took a day off from the world of Caribbean
Yacht Sales and took two IC 24 Keelboats for a sail over to the beautiful
beach at Deadman's Bay on Peter Island.
The IC 24 is an increasingly popular one design keelboat racing class with
a very competitive race schedule culminating in the World championships here
in the British Virgin Islands. The boats are modified J24 hulls with a wider
" Melges 24 style deck mould" added and no traveller so the cockpit is very
comfortable for a crew of 5.
In light winds of around 11 knots Boatshed BVI split into 2 teams for a
"friendly" race to the beach for a picnic and birthday celebration. The
windward leg was very close with the writer narrowly defeated (probably due
to the extra weight of the provisions on board). After a lesuirely lunch
and bobbing session in the water the second downwind leg saw some close
tussles under spinnaker before honour was restored. Well done team Boatshed
BVI! Boatshed BVI
The IC 24's were great fun to sail and certainly live up to their designer's
expectations of being an "entry level race boat " ...you don't have to be an
Olympic yachtsman to have an exhilarating time on these keelboats.
Boatshed BVI Yacht Brokers has close contact with the owners and the racing
association for IC 24's so if anyone is looking to buy or try one of these
great boats, we can do what we do best and link buyers and sellers of yachts
together. We have a great selection of racing yachts, cruising yachts,
sports fishing and power boats for sale...all of which mean fun. To talk to
